Evaluation and Diagnosis

Although GERD is a very common medical condition and is very insignificant in most of these patients, some patients suffer for years from Acid reflux. For sure, all such patients need thorough evaluation in the form of an Upper GI endoscopy, Esophageal manometry, and 24 hr ph Impedance study, as well as a proper psychological evaluation prior to surgery. The evaluation is needed to confirm if they really need surgery and to know how well they will respond to surgery. With proper evaluation and surgery in the hands of an expert surgeon who has high experience in such surgeries, patients get excellent long-term relief and freedom from antacid medications.
